IERG consists of a group of researchers, teachers, graduate students, parents, and others who would like to make education more effective through emotional engagment and imagination. Imaginative Education offers you a new understanding of how knowledge grows in the mind, and how our imaginations work and change during our lives. The IERG has also developed innovative teaching methods based on these insights that offer you new ways of planning and teaching.

The LUCID Project relies on imaginative education to bridge the gap between academic curriculum and the cultures of children’s lives by creating a learning environment in which all children can achieve their fullest potential.

The goals of the project can be simply stated: We want to help make our children’s lives safer and healthier by reducing the risks associated with TV watching, Internet use and playing with video games. We developed a media education curriculum that asked students to reflect on the role that media paly in their lives and challenges them to explore what they would do if they didn’t rely on media to entertain them so much. The task of course is never easy, but the results of this pilot project reveal that it is possible.
