Technical Stuff…

RSS

Remember back in the day when people used to subscribe to ‘email lists’ and if someone wanted to spread information to lots of people, they’d send an email to the list? Remember the last time you checked your email? and it was full of spam… and other emails that you promised yourself you’d eventually open? and did you? DID YOU??Well my friends, worry about that unsightly email no more! RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way for your computer to tell you that I posted something on my site without email. All you need is either a Web browser with a RSS reader (new browsers should have one… look for either of these icons: RSS icon , RSS icon) or a RSS reader on your computer.

Once you have a RSS reader (sometimes known as a RSS aggregator), simply click on the ‘Entries RSS’ link at the bottom-right of my site. Look… it’s right down there. Click it. Chances are, the resulting page will say something about ’subscribing to a feed’ or something. This is exactly what you want to do. Click whatever ’subscribe’-type button that shows up and fill in any information that it asks for. Take note of where the ‘feed’ gets stored… in FireFox, for example, they get filed away under ‘Bookmarks’ up in the menu.

That’s about it! Depending on how your RSS reader is set up, you may get a notification whenever I post or a new bookmark will be put up there for you to browse to at your leisure.
